After recently revealing that it will create new storage components using PCIe 4.0 connectivity specifications and QLC 144-layer technology to accelerate cloud data computing and enterprise storage workflows, solidigmAnnounced the launch of a new PCIe 4.0 SSD - Solidigm P41 Plus, touted as an affordable and excellent performance to meet daily computing needs.
In addition, Solidigm touts this SSD as being integrated with its Solidigm Synergy software design, which includes an SSD driver and software tools that can monitor the health of storage devices in a Windows environment. It also includes the Solidigm Storage Driver, which manages cache functions. By analyzing and identifying data access frequency, frequently used data is retained in the cache, allowing data to be read at a faster speed even when the SSD storage space is about to run out.
"Whether playing the latest PC games, navigating business tasks, or editing family photos, the Solidigm P41 Plus delivers the performance end users crave, along with incredible value," said Sanjay Talreja, General Manager, Client Products and Solutions. "Powered by innovative software, the Solidigm P41 Plus offers an exceptional combination of price and performance, while also enhancing the user experience through software, underscoring our unique value proposition."
SK Hynix, which currently owns Solidigm, said it has developed a 238-layer 4D NAND design that can be used for storage needs in PCs, smartphones, and servers. This will compete with Micron, which recently announced the launch of a 232-layer 3D NAND design. It also claims that compared with the previous generation of products, the data transmission rate is increased by 50%, and the power loss when reading data is reduced by 21%. It is expected to enter mass production in the first half of 2023.
