Shutterstock, the stock content provider that recently announced it would provide corporate clients with compensation protection for AI image creation, has earlier signed a six-year cooperation agreement with OpenAI. The agreement will provide high-quality metadata such as images, videos, and music for OpenAI's artificial intelligence technology training needs, and Shutterstock will have priority use rights for OpenAI's artificial intelligence technology.
Under the new agreement, Shutterstock will continue to use OpenAI's DALL·E text-generated image technology and integrate editing functions, allowing Shutterstock service users to simply edit the generated image content or convert it into any image.
In addition, through the recently acquired GIPHY service, Shutterstock will also work with OpenAI to provide automatically generated artificial intelligence technology application functions for mobile devices.
“Our renewed and significantly expanded strategic partnership with OpenAI reinforces Shutterstock’s commitment to driving innovation in AI technology and making us the preferred data and distribution partner for leaders in generative AI,” said Paul Hennessy, CEO of Shutterstock.
Brad Lightcap, OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer, added: “We are thrilled to have acquired the rights to Shutterstock’s library of premium content. This expanded collaboration not only enhances the capabilities of our image models, but also empowers brands, digital media, and marketing companies to transform content creation and ideation. We look forward to bringing the next generation of generative AI capabilities to the Shutterstock and GIPHY audiences and further revolutionizing how humans express themselves through visual media.”
