The first product launched in Japan in early October this yearSharp AQUOS Zero, earlier officially announced its entry into the Taiwan market and is expected to be officially sold in January 2019.
According to Sharp, it has achieved significant sales results in the Japanese Android market in the past, and will continue to combine artificial intelligence, camera and display technologies, as well as the soon-to-be-popular 5G connectivity services, to create mobile phone products that combine human warmth and technological convenience.
The AQUOS Zero, first unveiled during IFA 2018 and officially named in Japan in early October, is the first to use Sharp's own OLED screen. This not only demonstrates Sharp's ability to independently produce small-sized OLED panels, but also means that Foxconn, which acquired Sharp, can not only provide OEM assembly resources, but also support the supply demand of OLED panels currently used by many manufacturers.
Therefore, the launch of the AQUOS Zero not only represents Sharp's continued launch of beautifully designed mobile phones, but also aims to showcase the performance of Sharp's small-size OLED panels.
In terms of hardware specifications, the AQUOS Zero features a 6.2-inch WQHD+ OLED panel, a magnesium alloy frame, and a fabric back, resulting in a weight of just 146 grams, making it the world's lightest OLED phone. The screen also features a notch and dual-sided curved design, further enhancing the visually appealing screen-to-body ratio.
Other features include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of memory, and 128GB of storage capacity. It is equipped with IP68-rated water and dust resistance, Dolby Vision display technology, Dolby Atom panoramic sound technology, and Hi-Res high-resolution sound quality output. It is also equipped with an 800-megapixel video lens and a 2260-megapixel main camera, which also supports beauty, close-up, optical image stabilization, intelligent scene recognition, 4K video recording and other shooting functions.
The battery capacity is 3130mAh. Using two parallel battery modules, it supports dual-channel fast charging via two charging control chips. A special charging heat dissipation design mitigates heat generation during high-power charging while maintaining high-speed charging efficiency. Identity authentication includes both facial and fingerprint recognition.
The built-in operating system uses nearly native Android 9.0 and adds customized operation functions, including automatic scrolling when browsing news and social service content, the ability to take screenshots by swiping your finger across the screen, and an automatic lighting design that matches the characteristics of the OLED screen panel.
In the announcement in Taiwan, Sharp did not disclose the specific retail price of AQUOS zero, which is expected to be announced only after the official launch, but on-site staff revealed that the price will be around NT$2.
