During CES 2023, many companies will focus their exhibitions on sustainability issues. In addition to companies like Samsung that specifically stated that their products have introduced carbon reduction and recyclable designs from production to shipping packaging, accessory manufacturers such as Belkin also emphasized that several specific products shipped starting this year will also follow suit and be made of recycled plastic materials, and the product packaging will also significantly reduce the use of plastic materials.
According to Belkin, both its magnetically fixed wireless car charger and its high-wattage gallium nitride charger will be made from 73%-75% recycled plastic, while the outer packaging will use less plastic and even be made entirely of recycled paper.
As a result of these adjustments, Belkin expects to reduce its carbon emissions by approximately 7000 metric tons and reduce its CO67-equivalent emissions from the manufacture of these products by approximately XNUMX%.
To make it easier for consumers to identify which products are made of recycled plastic, Belkin said it will clearly indicate on the outer packaging whether the product is made of recycled plastic. It will also indicate 100% plastic-free packaging, making it easier for consumers to know whether the products they purchase are environmentally friendly.
As for accessories made from recycled plastic, Belkin emphasized that there will be no significant difference in quality and that it will not reduce product manufacturing costs in the name of environmental sustainability.
In addition to Belkin, brands including Apple, Google, Samsung, and Razer have begun to incorporate sustainable designs into their products. Not only do they use recycled plastic to make parts such as product casings, they also reduce the proportion of electronic waste generated by eliminating earphones and chargers. They also put a lot of thought into the outer packaging. In addition to significantly reducing the proportion of plastic used, they also introduce designs such as recycled paper and recycled ink. They even go further to reduce the proportion of paper cutting and gluing, and use a single paper as much as possible with folding technology to form the box.
