Today (July 7th), Seagate invited the Taoyuan City Government Water Affairs Bureau to share practical experience. Through both parties' experience in smart manufacturing and smart water resource management, they jointly explored the role of data storage and management in the development of sustainable smart cities.
During this conversation, Seagate shared its years of experience in smart manufacturing, improving production efficiency by combining data storage with technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning. Extreme climate change, resulting in floods and droughts, has made urban water resource management crucial. Therefore, Seagate looks forward to potential collaboration with the Taoyuan City Government Water Affairs Bureau, leveraging its expertise in data storage and management to help optimize urban water resource management.
Liu Zhenyu, Director of the Taoyuan City Water Affairs Bureau, stated, "The Taoyuan City Water Affairs Bureau adheres to the Five Digital Strategies and introduces new digital thinking to make Taoyuan a resilient city that leverages technology, is flood-proof, and competitive. We look forward to continuing to tap into the value of data and making Taoyuan a smarter and more sustainable city, a 'livable city with good water quality, resilience, recreation, and intelligence.'"
In the process of promoting the city's smart development, the Water Bureau faces various challenges, including how to digitally manage early paper maps and data, and how to store and subsequently analyze and apply digitally generated data in the future. These are all problems that the Water Bureau must solve.
Currently, the Water Authority's systems utilize nearly 90TB of storage capacity, and an additional 4TB of capacity is expected to be added annually. The Authority hopes to optimize data utilization efficiency, introduce more machine learning analysis applications, and achieve real-time monitoring, allowing it to prepare in advance for floods and droughts, or plan for long-term development.
