The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 were recently opened for pre-order in Taiwan. Today (July 7), Samsung has partnered with South Korean Michelin three-star chef An Chengzai, Taiwan Regent Hotel and Starlux Airlines to demonstrate how foldable technology can be deeply integrated into food, travel and lifestyle aesthetics to create a unique star-level marketing plan. In a subsequent interview, Samsung

"The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 are more than just foldable phones; they're practical devices that can be integrated into every aspect of life," said Liang Junyuan, General Manager of Samsung Taiwan. "Through in-depth observations of local consumers, we aim to align technology with user needs and collaborate with leading brands to create more memorable product experiences."
Samsung has invited Korean star chef Ahn Sung-jae to serve as its brand ambassador. He explored the Galaxy Z Fold7's aesthetics from a culinary perspective, exploring the worlds of mobile phones and highlighting its practical value through its ultra-lightness and versatility. He also personally photographed a "foldable appetizer" designed by the Regent Hotel team on-site, capturing the details of the dish with the 2-megapixel main camera, showcasing the highest quality images.

The Regent Hotel has showcased its fusion of East and West, creating two star-rated dishes inspired by folding: the "Eastern Crispy Chicken Bao" and the "Western Lobster Bao." These exquisitely layered dishes showcase the Galaxy Z series's design philosophy of both lightness and performance, creating a new intersection between technology and taste buds.
On the other hand, Samsung has continued its cooperation with Starlux Airlines, setting up a Galaxy Z Fold7 experience display area in the VIP lounges of the two major terminals of Taoyuan Airport, and combined with the new product pre-order lucky draw, there is a chance to win a round-trip business class ticket from Taipei to Phoenix, allowing foldable technology to accompany every step of the journey.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is the lightest and thinnest Fold series device to date, weighing just 215 grams and measuring just 4.2mm thick when unfolded. It features a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 2MP wide-angle lens, and the new Gemini AI app, offering powerful multitasking and AI assistant capabilities. The Z Flip7 boasts an upgraded 4.1-inch edge-to-edge display, supports Google Gemini voice control and Flex Mode for tripod-free selfies, and boasts a 4300mAh battery, showcasing both smart and stylish mobile style.

Samsung expects vivo's introduction of a large-size foldable phone in Taiwan will not be affected, and this update focuses on "upgrades"
In an interview, Chen Qimeng, general manager of Samsung Taiwan's mobile communications business, commented on the fact that the starting price of the Galaxy Z Fold7 exceeded NT$6 for the first time. He said that this was mainly due to the upgrade of hardware specifications. At the same time, the body structure was redesigned to make it lighter and thinner. On the other hand, more artificial intelligence functions were added, emphasizing that it can attract more user groups by "expanding the circle."
Regarding the annual price increase, Chen Qimeng stated that Samsung will not set specific price limits for its products, but will strive to provide better product designs at reasonable prices. Pre-orders for this latest generation of phones have more than doubled compared to the previous generation, including a 2-fold increase in pre-orders on the Samsung online store and over a 2.1-fold increase on the four major e-commerce platforms. Meanwhile, brick-and-mortar channels have also seen a 2% increase. The Galaxy Z Fold30 accounts for approximately 7% of pre-orders. Chen Qimeng expressed optimism that this new model will further boost the foldable phone market.

Vivo recently announced that it will introduce its large-size foldable phone, the vivo X Fold5, in the Taiwanese market. This may also attract more brands to introduce their own large-size foldable phones. Furthermore, Samsung has removed the S Pen function to further reduce the thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold7. Will this affect existing users who are purchasing or upgrading their phones? Chen Qimeng stated that the addition of new products from competitors will not have an impact. He believes that Samsung's new phone is a significant upgrade with a significantly thinner and lighter body. Furthermore, the Taiwanese foldable phone market is still relatively small. Even if competitors introduce their large-size foldable phones in Taiwan, the actual market share they can capture will be relatively limited.
In addition, the reason why the low-priced Galaxy Z Flip7 FE was not introduced to the Taiwanese market at the same time is based on different market layout strategies. Currently, Samsung still maintains the "N-1" concept in the Taiwanese market, so it will give priority to introducing products with greater sales opportunities. However, if there is more obvious market demand in the future, the introduction of the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is not ruled out.
Samsung's current approach suggests it's primarily focused on positioning its foldable phone as a higher-end flagship product. While Samsung hopes to attract a wider user base with this new phone and lower the barrier to entry through longer installment plans and card-free purchases, it remains to be seen whether it can successfully convince more people to upgrade to a larger foldable phone. This is especially true with the upcoming launch of the vivo X Fold5 in Taiwan, which is expected to attract more potential users who were previously on the sidelines with its relatively affordable price.
In the area of small-sized foldable phones, the reason why Samsung only introduced the Galaxy Z Flip7 this time may be related to the fact that there are already many small-sized foldable phones from Chinese brands competing in the market, and the simultaneous sale of the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE at this time may directly affect the actual sales of the Galaxy Z Flip7.

Regarding the sales performance of foldable phones this year, Chen Qimeng said that the company has already set sales targets for the coming year, and expects a 30% increase in total sales compared to last year. At the same time, compared to the past situation where large-size foldable phones accounted for 30% of sales and small-size foldable phones accounted for as much as 70%, it is hoped that this time the sales share of large-size foldable phones can be increased to 50%, and more Apple users can be attracted to switch.
Chen Qimeng also expects that the sales volume of the mobile phone market in the second half of the year will remain roughly the same as last year, but the overall sales amount will increase significantly. The reasons include the influence of factors such as component costs and tariffs. He also revealed that Samsung will have more new products ready to enter the market in the future.
