In addition to emphasizing the use of sustainability and security to promote more responsible innovation and development, Samsung announced at its annual developer conference SDC 2023 that it will update its Tizen operating system, and launch a new version of the One UI 6 operating interface for mobile devices such as mobile phones. It also announced the expansion of the application scope of Samsung health data.
Currently, the Tizen operating system is still widely used in Samsung's smart TV products, and also includes smart home appliances equipped with specific touch screens.
This update mainly improves the AI computing performance on the device side and enhances the AI application experience on the device side through the Home AI Edge Hub. For example, it allows home appliances with lower computing power to connect with mobile phones with higher computing power, thereby improving the overall AI operation efficiency.
At the same time, the new version of the Tizen operating system will also integrate the Samsung Gaming Hub, which has over 3000 games, and by providing HDR10+ GAMING and IRIS tools for enhanced graphics computing performance, it aims to attract more game developers to bring their game content to smart TVs equipped with the Tizen operating system.
In this update, Samsung has added support for the open source processor architecture RISC-V and the RUST programming language to the Tizen operating system. It also plans to use new features such as remote testing laboratories to allow developers to test the application services and operating experiences planned for use on Samsung TVs through cloud connections.
As for the One UI 6 operating interface used on corresponding mobile devices, it makes the mobile phone operation experience smoother and adds more personalized functions. For example, the system will analyze the user's currently open photo and recommend appropriate artificial intelligence editing tools. In addition, through a function called Samsung Studio, multiple layers of video editing can be performed, such as adding text, stickers and background music. It was also announced that a proprietary font called One UI Sans will be added to One UI 6 to improve the readability of content on the mobile phone screen.
In addition, for the digital health application experience, Samsung announced the launch of a development tool called Samsung Privileged Health, allowing developers and partners to create richer digital health solutions through the BioActive sensing element for Galaxy Watch.
Samsung also announced its latest clinical research collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, MIT Media Lab, Tulane University, and Samsung Medical Center to promote more solutions using digital health data.
Regarding the recently launched personalized dining experienceSamsung Food Service PlatformSamsung also stated that it will integrate Samsung Health and Samsung Food service platforms through artificial intelligence technology, allowing users to obtain diet management suggestions that are more tailored to their personal needs.
