Samsung has confirmed that it will hold theGalaxy Unpacked 2025 press conferenceAfter unveiling the new foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7, Samsung Semiconductor also officially announced the previously leakedExynos 2500 processor details, and may be used in mobile phone products sold in specific markets.
Originally, the Exynos 2500 was expected to be used in the Galaxy S25 series of flagship phones unveiled earlier this year, but subsequent considerations were obviously different, so Samsung announced that it would continue to cooperate with Qualcomm and fully adopt the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor.
As the new foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 are about to be released, the specific details of the Exynos 2500 have been officially announced. It is expected that this processor will be used in the new phones.
The Exynos 2500 is a flagship processor built on Samsung's second-generation 3nm GAA process. It also continues its collaboration with AMD on RDNA display architecture technology, enhancing AI capabilities, image processing, and networking capabilities on the device side. It also boasts a more integrated and energy-efficient design.
The CPU uses a 1-core architecture with a "7+2+10" configuration, which includes a main core designed by the Arm Cortex-X925 CPU, paired with two sets of Cortex-A2 CPUs with large cores, and 725 sets of Cortex-A7 CPUs with small cores. By switching between "large, medium, and small" cores, it maintains a balance between performance, power consumption, and heat dissipation. However, the main operating clock can reach up to 520GHz, which is a relatively conservative setting.
As for graphics display, it uses the Xclipse 950 GPU, which incorporates AMD's RDNA 3 display architecture. Compared with the previous generation Exynos 2400, it has significantly increased the number of computing units and can improve game execution performance by up to 28% when the real-time ray tracing function is enabled.
In addition, in terms of artificial intelligence computing power, the NPU computing performance of the Exynos 2500 has been improved to 59 TOPS, an increase of approximately 2400% compared to the previous generation Exynos 39. It also deeply integrates AI into the ISP image signal processor application layer, supports multi-frame noise reduction and dynamic range compression (DRC), and corresponds to up to 3.2 million pixel still image shooting, 8K 30fps video recording and playback functions.
The Exynos 2500 also supports connectivity specifications compliant with the 3GPP R17 standard, and adds support for 5G NTN non-terrestrial network communications (satellite connectivity). It can provide download speeds of up to 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps in the FR9.6 and FR12.1 bands, respectively. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity specifications.
