At its First Look event earlier this year, ahead of CES 2025, Samsung emphasized its "Vision AI" initiative, aiming to enhance its TV and monitor lineups through artificial intelligence. The company unveiled new models in the Neo QLED, OLED, QLED, and The Frame series, each touted as delivering a new viewing experience.
Using "Vision AI" to drive a new film and television experience and expand cooperation with Microsoft and other industry players
Among them, "Vision AI" represents Samsung's use of artificial intelligence to bring a smarter, more intuitive and seamless cross-screen viewing experience, making it easier to turn the TV into a simple and interactive "smart companion". For example, through search, you can view relevant information about the content displayed on the screen, including actor names, plot content, etc., or use real-time translation to make it easier for users to watch foreign series. You can even automatically generate film and television content into dynamic, personalized backgrounds, making the TV background more personal.
In addition, "Vision AI" is also integrated with Samsung's intelligent IoT platform SmartThings. It can use the Home Insights function to summarize daily dynamics and security alerts at any time, or automatically adjust the brightness of the TV screen according to the time. It can even use the built-in camera of the TV to observe whether there are any abnormalities in the pets and family members in real time.
Behind "Vision AI" is collaboration with artificial intelligence companies including Microsoft and Google to provide a smarter and more personalized user experience. Samsung will also work with Microsoft to launch TVs and smart displays that integrate Copilot services, allowing Copilot services to be used in more scenarios.
Updated Neo QLED and other TV models, adding The Frame Pro art model
The new TVs launched this time include the top-of-the-line Neo QLED 8K QN8F model equipped with the third-generation NQ990 AI processor. These include 8K AI Upscaling Pro, which upscales content to 8K quality, and Auto HDR Remastering Pro, which automatically analyzes content and adjusts color. Additionally, there's Color Booster Pro, which analyzes content to enhance color intensity, and Adaptive Sound Pro, which uses artificial intelligence to separate speech and music and enhance each. Through artificial intelligence, these features allow images and sound to be presented optimally in any environment.
Other models include the new QN990F soundbar with an ultra-thin, minimalist design, and the new The Frame Pro specification added to The Frame series, which features a Neo QLED display panel, a third-generation NQ4 AI processor, and wireless connectivity. This expands the art TV product lineup and also strengthens the content of the Samsung Art Store, which includes more than 3000 pieces of content from the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and numerous artists.
Collaborate with cosmetics companies to develop makeup mirrors using micro LED displays
Samsung also showcased its new interactive triple-laser ultra-short-throw projector, The Premiere 5, at the First Look event. It also allows users to interact with the projected image through touch, and uses Samsung LightWARP technology to smoothly project the image onto everyday objects.
In the beauty application sector, Samsung has also introduced a beauty mirror equipped with a micro LED display. The highly reflective mirror display acts as a makeup mirror and provides personal skin analysis and personalized skincare recommendations. The technology behind this is a collaboration with Korean cosmetics company AmorePacific (아모레퍼시픽, AmorePacific) to develop its beauty solutions.
