At the Samsung AI Forum event held earlier in Seoul, South Korea, Samsung announced the launch of its own multimodal large language model, Samsung Gauss, named after the German mathematician Gauss, and claimed that it can be deployed on cloud servers or used on devices.
Samsung Gauss includes Samsung Gauss Language, which can be used for text-related analysis and understanding of application functions, and Samsung Gauss Code, which can assist engineers in writing programs. It also includes Samsung Gauss Image, which can be used to automatically generate images and process photos.
Samsung Gauss is currently used within Samsung to improve work productivity, and will be expanded to Samsung's products and services in the future to provide users with a new user experience.
In addition, Samsung also emphasized that it will ensure the security of AI applications and will proactively eliminate security and privacy issues that may arise during use. It will also follow AI ethics in data collection, use, model development, and application deployment to avoid greater problems caused by AI.
If nothing unexpected happens, Samsung expects to introduce more automatically generated artificial intelligence technology applications in the Galaxy S24 series, its annual flagship mobile phone to be launched early next year, including an instant phone translation function. It also expects that by introducing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the mobile phone will be able to achieve a more diverse artificial intelligence application experience.
