Apart from Announced cooperation with Hyundai Motor Group, further expanding the SmartThings platform from home environments to vehicles. Earlier, it further announced a partnership with Tesla to provide FleetAPI resources through Tesla to bring SmartThings Energy services to Tesla models and energy products, such as Powerwall energy storage devices, solar inverters, and wall-mounted charging equipment.

After connecting the SmartThings Energy service with Tesla products, users will be able to manage and monitor Tesla vehicles or the usage of Tesla energy products through devices such as Samsung phones and the SmartThings Energy service.

At the same time, Tesla can also connect the "Storm Watch" function of its Powerwall energy storage device with the SmartThings Energy service, allowing users to receive warning information not only through the Tesla app, but also on Samsung smart TVs, mobile phones and other devices that support the SmartThings platform. This allows users to prepare in advance of sudden power outages and use Tesla's artificial intelligence energy mode to store as much electricity as possible before the actual power outage, and to maximize the power supply duration during the power outage.

In addition, Tesla also stated that FleetAPI resources will be available to more businesses and developers, allowing more devices to connect with Powerwall energy storage devices, solar inverters and wall-mounted charging equipment. Samsung has now become an early partner in the application of this API, allowing users to monitor the actual operation and usage of Tesla vehicles and energy storage devices in real time through multiple devices, and to adjust the household electricity load at any time, or use Tesla energy storage devices as emergency power supply in the event of a sudden power outage.

After being exhibited at CES 2024, this cooperative service between Samsung and Tesla is still in the development and adjustment stage. It is expected to be officially launched in the second quarter of this year, and the relevant functional details may change.
