After announcing the cooperation with Hyundai Motor Group and Tesla,Extending the SmartThings platform from home to vehiclesLater, Samsung also announced that it would cooperate with many partners to promote the "Net Zero Home" concept in the United States, South Korea, Sweden and other places, and create an energy-independent and energy-saving residential environment through the SmartThings platform.
Samsung has previously demonstrated a smart home energy management system prototype house designed with SmartThings Energy services at Brobyholm, a 2000-home smart energy-saving residential complex near the Swedish capital of Stockholm. Samsung collaborated with smart home innovator ABB, solar technology company SMA, and real estate company S. Property on this project, providing its own smart home appliances that support the SmartThings platform and managing home electricity through the SmartThings Energy service, allowing residents to use electricity more efficiently.
The Brobyholm Smart Energy-Saving Residential Complex is expected to have 500 households completed by 2025, and real estate company S. Property plans to expand the Brobyholm Smart Energy-Saving Residential Complex to a smart living environment that can accommodate 2028 households by 2000.
In addition to showcasing its net-zero emissions development achievements at IFA 2023 last year, Samsung plans to promote energy conservation and the development of applications that make energy use more efficient through the "net-zero home" concept in the future.
Samsung's energy-efficient homes will utilize solar panels and energy storage devices to store green electricity. Using the SmartThings platform, they will automatically activate air conditioning and heating at appropriate times, while also automatically shutting down when temperatures get too cold or too hot, thereby conserving energy. Furthermore, artificial intelligence analysis will dynamically adjust blinds based on the situation, preventing excessive sunlight from affecting indoor temperatures, allowing pets to roam at a more comfortable temperature, and reminding families if they've forgotten to close doors or windows.
The SmartThings Energy service will automatically operate appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers during off-peak hours, and use the remaining stored energy to heat water for showers. It will also automatically adjust indoor lighting and household electrical appliances at bedtime, allowing users to sleep in a more comfortable and quiet environment. The SmartThings Energy service can also be used to analyze cyclical electricity usage later.
However, Samsung does not seem to plan to follow LG's lead in launchingSmart HouseIn this way, the company does not make the "net zero home" concept design house its sales "product", but instead promotes more energy-efficient residential houses through cooperation with external businesses.
