Samsung earlier announced an organizational restructuring, which included the establishment of a department dedicated to planning future businesses, with Han Jong-hee and Kyung Kye-hyun, heads of the two major business units, maintaining their dual CEO positions to strengthen the development of core businesses.
The department responsible for planning future businesses will be led by Jun Young-hyun, executive director of Samsung SDI, and is expected to help Samsung explore new market development opportunities outside of its existing businesses.
Prior to this, Samsung's development this year was not good due to the global economic downturn and the limited development of its semiconductor business due to reduced market demand. It hopes to drive growth momentum through this organizational adjustment.
In the future, Samsung expects artificial intelligence to become a key project. In addition to making artificial intelligence more concretely implemented in its mobile devices, including mobile phones and smart home appliances, it also believes that as the market demand for artificial intelligence chips continues to increase, it will provide foundry resources through its advanced process technology to increase its technological value.
