Recently, Korean media reported that Samsung will terminate the development of its Exynos processor business. In addition to canceling the use of Exynos processors in the Galaxy S23 series of mobile phones to be launched next year, even the models launched in 2024 will fully adopt Qualcomm processors. Samsung responded to this earlier and stated that this was not true, emphasizing that it will continue to develop Exynos processor products.
However, Samsung revealed that it is currently restructuring its Exynos processor business and strengthening its competitive advantages. It also stated that it is cooperating with companies with rich processor technology assets (presumably Arm), and expects to significantly increase the market share of processor cooperative applications.
Prior to this, Tianfeng Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S23 series of mobile phones next year.Qualcomm will be used to provide processors, which seems to highlight that Samsung may slow down the development of its Exynos processors.
However, judging from Samsung's response, it shows that it has not given up on the development of Exynos processors, but may consolidate greater development capabilities through reorganization, so that the new Exynos processors can have better computing performance and compete with companies such as Qualcomm and Apple that build their own processors.
Samsung has long invested in developing its own processors, but until recently, they were used exclusively in its own mobile phones. Only recently have they begun collaborating with Vivo. Samsung may be looking to collaborate with more industry players to expand the use of its Exynos processors.
