During IFA 2019, it was announced that the foldable screen phone will be available for sale in South Korea, the United States, Europe, and other regions.Galaxy foldLater, in order to prevent consumers from "carelessly" operating the phone and causing damage to their expensive mobile phones, Samsung earlier promoted through video content to avoid damaging the hinge part of the phone, and also to avoid exposing the phone to water as much as possible. It even recommended that consumers with implanted medical devices such as pacemakers consult a doctor before using this phone.
Previously, due to incidents during early testing where someone removed the protective film adhered to the Galaxy Fold's screen, or dust and other foreign objects seeped into the folding mechanism, Samsung suspended its original plan to sell this foldable phone in the first half of the year and recalled all the early test models. Samsung then officially announced the re-launch of the phone during IFA 2019 this year, with sales starting in South Korea, followed by plans to launch it in the US and European markets.
Because the Galaxy Fold uses a flexible OLED panel design, in order to ensure the high-curvature folding effect, the Galaxy Fold cannot use hard glass material on the outer layer of the screen, and can only use a soft film as the outer protection. Therefore, once consumers tear off this soft film, it will affect the normal operation of the flexible OLED panel.
Furthermore, the OLED panel material is also susceptible to moisture infiltration, which is why Samsung advises consumers to avoid spilling liquids on the Galaxy Fold. In fact, Samsung didn't mention the Galaxy Fold's water resistance in its design. Therefore, for the safety of electronic products, it's important to avoid placing the phone near water, or even exposing it to rain.
The reason why consumers with implanted medical devices are required to consult a doctor before using this mobile phone may mean that the antenna reception design of the new mobile phone is relatively complex, which may affect the abnormal operation of the implanted medical device.
In addition to announcing the resumption of sales of foldable phones, Samsung also announced that consumers who purchase the Galaxy Fold will receive one-on-one teaching services and 24-hour online or telephone technical support, making it easier for users to use this phone.
