Samsung earlier announced the launch of the Portable SSD X5, a portable SSD product designed with NVMe NAND, which is mainly designed for creators and professionals who need to carry large files such as videos and design images.
As for the appearance, Samsung's Portable SSD X5 adopts a streamlined design, which is different from the boxy and flat shapes of common SSDs. Thanks to the NVMe NAND read and write characteristics, it can achieve sequential read and write speeds of up to 2800MB/s and 2300MB/s respectively. The entry-level 500GB capacity version also has a write speed of 2100MB/s. It also provides an Intel Thunderbolt 3 port using USB Type-C, which can complete a 12GB file transfer in as fast as 20 seconds.
In principle, if you want to use this portable SSD, you must use a device designed for the Thunderbolt 3 port. This means that this storage product can only be used with Apple's MacBook Pro series launched after 2016, or Windows PCs and laptops that support Intel Thunderbolt 3 ports. It cannot be used with smartphones using USB Type-C ports.
In addition, the Portable SSD X5 also supports internal shock-proof design and overheating prevention mechanism, and uses AES 256-bit hardware encryption to protect stored content.
建議售價部分,500GB容量版本將以400美元價格銷售,1TB容量版本售價則是700美元,2TB容量版本售價更高達1400美元,預計在今年9月3日於全球市場銷售。
