With the release of the Galaxy S25 series flagship phones, Samsung also announced several service updates, including upgrades to services such as Samsung Wallet and Samsung Health. In addition, it also updated the SmartThings service to further strengthen the integration and support of Matter open IoT protocol devices.
In terms of Samsung Wallet updates, Samsung expects to add installment payment and contactless transfer functions to the Galaxy S25 series and some Galaxy series models later this year. The former will be provided by Samsung in installments, and users can use Visa or Mastercard credit cards to make installment payments in physical channels or online channels. The latter can be bound to a third-party digital wallet, allowing users to quickly transfer money to other Galaxy S25 or earlier models.
The new version of Samsung Wallet service is expected to be launched after the second quarter of this year, but the initial availability will likely still be mainly in the United States, while other regions will vary depending on local financial regulations.
This update also announced enhancements to Samsung Health, including enhanced sleep tracking, body index, diet management, etc. As for the SmartThings service update, it further strengthens home pet care, such as interacting with pets at home through home connected devices and confirming their activities at home. It even cooperates with Dr. Tail, a 24-hour pet care service that is open all year round, allowing users to ask pet care-related questions at any time. In addition, the integration of Matter universal IoT device compatibility is further strengthened to connect more smart connected devices to the SmartThings service platform.
