At the AI Masters Forum event hosted by the Yongling Foundation today, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman believed that now might be the luckiest era, as many ideas can be realized through artificial intelligence. Coursera Chairman and co-founder Andrew Ng also believes that there is no need to worry about being replaced by artificial intelligence.
Sam Altman believes that just as the launch of the first generation iPhone changed the development of the smartphone market and even drove the growth of apps and new service models, artificial intelligence technology will also drive a new market situation.
Regarding market concerns about the development of artificial intelligence (AI), Sam Altman stated that all technology is subject to error and requires constant revision to improve and create the potential for innovation. He believes this may be humanity's most fortunate era, as AI will enable any idea to be realized, potentially even narrowing the gap between rich and poor.
Of course, such a situation must be based on the correct decisions made by all human society, rather than concentrating decision-making power and technology in a single company or a small group of people.
OpenAI is currently operating as a nonprofit, effectively aiming to be independent of investor influence. However, to remain viable, the company still needs to generate profits, so OpenAI currently caps its profits, using only what's needed to sustain development without aiming for sustained profitability.
As for Andrew Ng's views on the development of artificial intelligence, he believes there's no need to worry about it replacing humans. Instead, he believes the technology can solve more human problems. However, Ng also clarified that while artificial intelligence will indeed replace some jobs, it will likely be people who don't know how to use it.
In the past, many labeling tasks behind artificial intelligence were completed manually. In the future, these tasks will only require instructions, and artificial intelligence technology will be used to complete larger-scale data labeling, thereby significantly improving the accuracy of artificial intelligence calculations.
While artificial intelligence (AI) is clearly creating greater business opportunities in search and advertising, Andrew Ng believes that more niche areas could be amplified by AI, creating new opportunities. Therefore, Ng recommends starting to learn programming. Even though the future may see direct computer interaction through natural language, knowing how to communicate with computers through procedural languages is still crucial.
