Salesforce announced today (January 14th) that its highly anticipated Slackbot is now officially available to all users. This product is not just a simple chatbot update, but a key step for Salesforce toward its vision of "Agentic Enterprise." By directly integrating a personalized AI agent into Slack, the most commonly used communication platform for enterprises, Salesforce is attempting to solve the last mile of AI adoption in enterprise applications.
A personal assistant who requires no training and can directly understand your work process.
Salesforce co-founder and Slack CTO Parker Harris positions Slackbot as an entry point to help businesses enter the “proxy enterprise” model. Unlike traditional AI, which requires cumbersome model training or prompt engineering, the new Slackbot emphasizes “no additional training required.”
Slackbot has a deep understanding of conversation logs, profile content, and the context of team collaborations within the Slack platform. This means that when you ask it a question, it doesn't give you a generic search result, but rather precise suggestions based on your company's project progress and past discussions and decisions.
Integrate CRM data and break down system barriers
Slackbot's biggest advantage lies in the strong support of Salesforce, which allows it to seamlessly connect to the Salesforce CRM database.
For example, before a business meeting begins, Slackbot can automatically compile customer background information, annual recurring revenue (ARR), and historical interaction records, and combine this with discussions within the business team on Slack channels to directly generate a strategic briefing. Employees can use natural language to complete meeting summaries, compose emails, and even schedule calendars, allowing Slack to evolve from a simple communication software into an "Agentic Work OS."
Open architecture: ChatGPT on the left, Claude on the right
Salesforce has adopted an open strategy, enabling Slackbot to not only support its own Salesforce Agentforce but also collaborate with third-party AI models such as OpenAI (ChatGPT) and Anthropic (Claude). This makes Slackbot the enterprise's internal AI command center, capable of dispatching different AI agents across systems to handle complex workflows, while Salesforce's Trust Layer safeguards sensitive data from being leaked.
Launch schedule:
• Starting today: Available to Slack Business+ and Enterprise+ plan users.
• End of February: Expected to be fully open to users worldwide (including Taiwan).
