At its pre-MWC 2026 event in Barcelona, Xiaomi officially announced the launch of...International versions of Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Xiaomi 17and collaboration with LeicaLeica Leitz PhoneFurthermore, Xiaomi announced the launch of a brand-new concept car with a futuristic and even somewhat "crazy" design—the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo. This car not only pushes aerodynamics to the extreme, but its interior, resembling a "cocoon" without traditional seats, also completely breaks the outside world's existing understanding of car cabins.
Although detailed power figures are still confidential, judging from the exterior and interior designs released so far, this concept car, described by Xiaomi as "sculpted by the wind," is clearly one of the most eye-catching hardware products before MWC 2026 this year.
Ultimate aerodynamics: Magnetic levitation wheel caps are a highlight.
In the current preview information, Xiaomi has focused entirely on the efficiency of airflow for this car.
The Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo's body is covered with various air ducts and vents, and even features active movable aerodynamic kits at the bottom of the body.
An even more interesting technological highlight lies in its wheel design—to minimize the drag coefficient, Xiaomi developed special magnetic wheel covers. When the vehicle is traveling at high speed, these wheel covers are held stationary by magnetic force and do not rotate with the wheels, thus eliminating the turbulence and additional drag generated by the high-speed rotation of traditional wheel rims.
X-wing steering wheel and "cocoon-style sofa": This is a sports car without traditional seats.
If you think the exterior is already avant-garde enough, then the cockpit design of the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo will definitely surprise you.
Open the car door, and you won't find any traditional car seats. Instead, there's a two-seater "cocoon-shaped sofa" that fully encloses the driver and passenger. The entire cabin space has been extremely simplified, abandoning all traditional car dashboard and center console elements.
Directly in front of the driver is a steering wheel that bears a striking resemblance to the X-Wing from Star Wars. This steering wheel integrates five miniature displays, which appear to also function as context-sensitive buttons.
Can't buy the actual car? You can bring the same "gaming cockpit" home!
These kinds of extremely avant-garde concept cars are usually difficult to mass-produce in the short term, and most people may not be able to afford their high cost. But Xiaomi, a technology company with "making friends" as its core spirit, has already come up with a solution.
It is reported that Xiaomi plans to launch a "gaming console/simulation cockpit" with the exact same cockpit design as this concept car. This means that even if you can't drive a real Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo on the road, you can still enjoy the thrill of virtual racing in the relatively safe environment of your home, nestled in your own cocoon sofa.
