In a State of Play livestream held earlier, IO Interactive officially unveiled the all-new action-adventure game "007 First Light" from the "007" series, providing the first real-machine gameplay demonstration and in-depth analysis. It also confirmed that the game will be released simultaneously on PlayStation 007, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2026, and PC platforms on March 3, 27.
IO Interactive, renowned for the Hitman series, excels at creating action games with open worlds, emphasizing strategy, and immersion. "007: First Light" is the result of their years of development experience combined with the classic Bond IP. For players, this is more than just an action game; it's an experience where they can truly "become 007."
With its official launch in 2026, this work is bound to become a heavyweight masterpiece on the next-generation consoles and PC platforms, and may also inject new life into the 007 series, which has long lacked representative stand-alone games.
Unlike previous titles, First Light emphasizes an immersive espionage experience, allowing players to follow James Bond as he embarks on high-stakes missions across the globe. Released footage includes high-stakes chess action in Slovakia, infiltration of a lavish London Kensington gala, and even a high-altitude showdown, showcasing cinematic scene switching and plot tension.
The core of the game lies in its diverse creative approach, allowing players to choose stealth, direct confrontation, or a flexible mix to adapt to ever-changing environments. IO Interactive stated that they hope players will be able to determine the pace and style of each action, turning crises into breakthroughs.
In terms of gameplay, the game breaks down Pound's skills into four major systems:
• Spycraft: Gain advantages by eavesdropping, stealing access cards, and piecing together environmental clues to create shortcuts or bypass defenses.
• Instinct: Shows off Bond's adaptability, allowing him to lure enemies, deceive them, or deliver precise counterattacks in gunfights. This ability is limited and must be replenished by knocking down enemies or completing objectives.
• Gadgets: Provided by the Q department, including tools for hacking into surveillance systems, laser cutting, distraction, etc., which can be gradually unlocked as the mission progresses.
• Combat: Combining close combat with precision gunplay and a “License to Kill” system, allowing players to unleash deadly firepower when necessary.
In addition, classic driving scenes will be featured throughout the game, whether it is high-speed chases, shortcut raids, or even thrilling scenes of being thrown out of airplane hatches, they will become important features of the game, echoing the action aesthetics that the Bond series is most well-known for.
In terms of performance, the game has recruited many well-known actors to do dubbing and motion capture, including Patrick Gibson as Bond, Priyanga Burford as M, and Lennie James as Bond's mentor John Greenway, so that the characters are not just NPCs in the plot, but can also show distinct personalities through their performances.
The official pre-order bonuses were also revealed, including 24 hours of early access and a Deluxe Edition upgrade. The Deluxe Edition offers four Bond skins, an exclusive weapon skin, and the "Golden Light Pack" gadget, further highlighting the player's secret agent identity.
In terms of price, the suggested retail price of the PlayStation 5 version is NT$2090, and the PC version is NT$1790. The game supports 12 languages including Traditional Chinese, corresponds to single-player mode, and is graded into 15 levels.
