Earlier this year, Qualcomm revealedCreated in partnership with Samsung, and in May by GoogleconfirmThe virtual vision headset that is being prepared for launch will apparently not be released until the second half of 2024.
South Korea's JoongAng Daily reported that Samsung's virtual reality headset, codenamed "Infinite," will not enter the market until at least the second half of 2024, seemingly due to the similarities with Apple's later-launched virtual reality headset.VisionProrelated.
In the initial plan, Samsung only expects to produce 3 virtual vision headsets, which will be equipped with Samsung's own micro LED display panels, the processor will be provided by Qualcomm, and will be equipped with a specially designed version of the Android operating system, but no specific details have been released yet.
Samsung has long been involved in the virtual reality (VR) application market, launching several Galaxy VR headsets for use with mobile phones. It also established a deep partnership with Meta (then Facebook), and even later launched the HMD Odyssey+, a virtual reality headset designed for Windows operating systems in collaboration with Microsoft. However, development of these headsets was subsequently discontinued due to poor market response.
However, since Meta's Quest series of virtual vision headsets still have a lot of market support, and virtual vision has the potential to become a future computing development platform, Samsung has once again invested in this market development.
