相關消息指稱,華為已經在2019年9月24日申請名為「靈犀指令集」的商標名稱,後續更在2022年10月24日申請「LinxiISA」商標名稱,似乎是為了接下來的自有處理器作準備。
Huawei previously obtained a permanent license for the Armv8 instruction set from Arm, using it in its Kirin series processors. Its recently redesigned processors also continue to use this instruction set. However, while other companies like Qualcomm, MediaTek, Apple, and Samsung have already upgraded to the Armv9 instruction set, Huawei is currently unable to obtain a license for the new instruction set due to the US technology export ban.
Therefore, it is currently reported that Huawei has applied for a patent for its own instruction set name, which may be used as a substitute application in a short period of time if it is completely banned in the future.
Huawei was previously affected by the US technology export ban, which resulted in its mobile phones no longer being able to use Google technology licenses. It could only use AOSP (Android Open Source Project) under an open source license. It then turned to developing its own HarmonyOS operating system. Processors such as the Kirin series, which were originally produced by TSMC, could no longer be produced. However, SMIC later switched to producing the 7nm process Kirin 9000S processor.
The current market view is that even if the US government continues to put pressure on Huawei to impose greater restrictions, it is still possible that Huawei will accelerate the creation of complete mobile phone products with its own resources, and even achieve complete processor design, manufacturing and supply.
