South Korea's The Elec reportedIt is said that theNew iPad ProAfter switching to a double-layer stacked OLED display panel design, Apple will follow suit with OLED display panels in the iPad Air and iPad mini as early as 2026, but it may not be designed with a double-layer stack.
It's not surprising that Apple has switched to OLED display panels for the iPad Air and iPad mini. After all, the current market trend is to adopt increasingly popular OLED display panels in subsequent product iterations. This allows iPad models to display colors more vividly and realistically, while also reducing body thickness and power consumption through the characteristics of OLED display panels.
However, in order to differentiate from the iPad Pro product positioning, the OLED display panels expected to be used in future new iPad Air and iPad mini will not adopt a double-layer stacking design, and may only retain a single-layer structure.
In the current iPad model design, the iPad Pro not only replaces the OLED display panel with a double-layer stacked design, but also adds ProMotion display technology that supports higher frame refresh rates. Even the Magic Keyboard accessory with a newly designed key layout suitable for the new iPad Pro cannot be used with the existing iPad Air model.
