The Information websiteCiting sources, Google's current collaboration with Samsung on the semi-customized Tensor series processors is expected to last until 2024, and it is expected to switch to fully customized processors in collaboration with TSMC after 2025.
Google originally planned to replace the semi-customized processor produced in cooperation with Samsung with a semi-customized processor code-named "Redondo", but now it has adjusted to continue cooperating with Samsung and is expected to wait until 2025 to cooperate with TSMC on fully customized processor products.
According to sources, the fully customized processor that Google will develop in cooperation with TSMC will be built using a 3nm process, and may compete with processor products commissioned by Apple, MediaTek, and Qualcomm to be produced by TSMC using the same process technology.
The adoption of a fully customized design may also mean that the computing performance of this Google processor will no longer be limited by the original semi-customized design of Samsung's Exynos processor, and it is expected to be used in the new Pixel series of mobile phones.
However, Google and TSMC have not responded to this report yet.
