Bloomberg News reportedSince 2019, Huawei has been receiving assistance from the Shenzhen Municipal Government Investment Fund to build self-sufficient 5G networking processors, and has even worked closely with Shenzhen Xinkailai Technology Co., Ltd. to circumvent technology export restrictions including those from the United States, the Netherlands and Japan.
Prior to this, Huawei had already produced 7nm process chips through SMIC.Kirin 9000S processorAlthough there is a technological gap of more than five years compared to other processors that have adopted the 3nm process, it has clearly become a benchmark product for Huawei to break through the US technology export ban.
Currently, Huawei is cooperating with Shenzhen Xinkailai Technology Co., Ltd. and has transferred more than 10 technical patents to it. It hopes to develop related technologies for lithography machines through Shenzhen Xinkailai Technology Co., Ltd., and to recruit former ASML employees to enable it to have a more advantageous layout in its own processor products and successfully break through the impact of US technology export bans.
Many believe that China has achieved self-sufficiency in many parts of mobile phone manufacturing, except for key components such as processors, which are still restricted to American companies. However, it is expected that by continuously improving related technologies and establishing its own supply chain, China will be able to reduce or eliminate reliance on imported technology.
