CD Projekt Red, the Polish game developer that created The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077, recently releasedRecruitment informationIt seems to reveal that the company has not yet officially announced,A new work codenamed "Project Hadar", will be an action role-playing game (Action RPG) focusing on melee combat, and will also be built with Unreal Engine 5.
When CD Projekt Red revealed its future development blueprint in 2022, it first mentioned a new game project codenamed "Project Hadar". At that time, it only said that this was a new IP built from scratch and was in the early stages of concept. As the development pace entered the implementation phase, more specific information finally appeared in the official recruitment announcement released recently.
According to CD Projekt Red's recruitment for "senior game designers", "Project Hadar" is a completely new worldview that will be created from scratch. The development team hopes to attract developers who are passionate and creative about building an original game universe, and emphasizes that this work will combine RPG elements with action-oriented gameplay. It also specifically states that applicants must have "action game melee combat experience", indirectly revealing that the game will use close combat as its core mechanism.
Judging from the job requirements, "Project Hadar" will continue CD Projekt Red's expertise in narrative depth and character creation, while introducing a stronger real-time combat rhythm, similar to the sword-based action system in the "Witcher" series, but the gameplay design is expected to further enhance the sense of impact and combat strategy.
CD Projekt Red's past works were all developed using its own REDengine, but from this recruitment content, it can be clearly known that "Project Hadar" will be produced using Unreal Engine 5, which also means that the studio will continue its cooperation with Epic Games and achieve higher quality picture presentation and scene interaction performance through new generation development tools.
Although the official release schedule of "Project Hadar" has not yet been determined and the game development is still in its early stages, judging from the details currently revealed, CD Projekt Red is clearly interested in creating a completely new work with a completely different style from the existing "The Witcher" and "Cyberpunk" series, and creating another game brand with market influence through a new IP.
For players familiar with CD Projekt Red, whether "Project Hadar" can continue or even break through the performance of existing works in terms of plot, world view and combat system will also become the focus of subsequent attention.
