At CES 2025, robots have clearly become one of the key exhibits. Realbotix, a Toronto, Canada-based robotics company founded in 1998, showcased its bionic robot Aria, which boasts real-life interactions and realistic human behavior.
Realbotix said that Aria is designed for needs such as interaction and companionship, and emphasizes emotional understanding and interaction. It can be used in various social interactions, or in occasions such as theme parks and medical systems.
During a simple chat, Aria will respond according to the subject's statement, accompanied by subtle body movements that imitate human interactions, and through these "behaviors" achieve a more real-life feeling.
A total of 17 drive motors above Aria's neck control the movements of its mouth and eyes, allowing for more subtle expressions. The face can be fixed magnetically or quickly changed to different face shapes and hairstyles. The company is even considering adding RFID tags in the future, allowing the robot to quickly switch to different "personalities" when equipped with different facial accessories.
In addition to Aria, Realbotix is also offering a variety of other robot designs. It also offers an "avatar" with only the head and neck for $10, a detachable modular design for $15, and a standing full-body version for $17.
To prevent its robots from looking too real, Realbotix's current robots can only be used in fixed positions. Even robots built in full-body form must be moved via a wheeled base.
