This year, it will be launched during CES 2024.New Blade 16 and Blade 18 gaming laptopsRazer earlier announced that the new Blade 18 will be the first to be equipped withIntel Thunderbolt 5 interfacegaming laptop.
Razer updated its Blade 14 and Blade 16 gaming laptops earlier this year, and also updated the Blade 18 with an 18-inch screen design. The 14-inch model remains thin and lightweight, making it easy to carry, while the 16-inch model is suitable for more advanced gaming experiences and maintains a balance between performance and portability.
The 18-inch model focuses on a desktop-like experience, providing more complete performance for gaming or content creation, while maintaining a 21.99mm thickness.
The world's first laptop with a 4K resolution and 200Hz refresh rate screen
Although during CES 2024 it was emphasized that the new Blade 18 uses an OLED display panel developed in collaboration with Samsung, corresponding to 4K resolution and 165Hz screen refresh rate, Razer subsequently increased the screen refresh rate to 200Hz and the display response time to 3ms, making the Blade 18 the world's first laptop equipped with a screen designed with 4K resolution and 200Hz screen refresh rate, and corresponding to more realistic color display effects.
The 18-inch model also offers an optional mini LED display panel with a maximum brightness of 1200 nits and HDR support. It features a 16:10 aspect ratio, QHD+ resolution, and a 300Hz refresh rate. Its display response time remains the same at 3ms. The display panel is color-calibrated by CalMAN, achieving a DE2000 Avg ≤ 2 color difference.
As for hardware specifications, the Blade 18 uses an Intel 24th-generation Core i32-14HX processor with 9 cores, 14900 execution threads, and supports overclocking operation, corresponding to desktop-like performance. The display part uses up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, supporting real-time ray tracing and DLSS 3 anti-aliasing functions. It also supports G-Sync technology and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus technology.
其他部分,則包含搭載最高可達96GB、5200MHz的DDR5記憶體,以及最高16TB容量、以2組NVMe M.2 SSD構成的儲存元件。
Razer also emphasizes enhancing the convenience of repair and upgrading of Blade 18. The laptop can be disassembled and components such as memory and storage capacity can be replaced by simply removing 10 sets of T5 screws.
As for the system heat dissipation, it uses additional enlarged heat dissipation guides and a thinner, more bladed 3-fan system to enhance the zone heating effect. In addition, by adding ventilation holes on the keyboard surface, the laptop can expel internal heat faster under high load conditions.
The world's first laptop equipped with Intel Thunderbolt 5
It complies with Intel Thunderbolt 5 certification standards and is compatible with the USB 4.0 connection specifications proposed by USB-IF, while connecting to various peripheral accessories through the USB-C standard interface.
Other designs include a 2-channel system consisting of 4 sets of tweeters and 6 sets of woofers, corresponding to 3 sets of sound amplifiers and THX Spatial Audio sound technology. There is a 500-megapixel video camera above the screen, which can be physically covered by a physical sliding mask to avoid privacy concerns when not in use. The body is made of CNC-cut aluminum frame and is equipped with a scratch-resistant keyboard with mechanical key switch operation feel.
As for Razert's senior product marketing manager David Ng, he explained that the new Blade 18's video camera still maintains a 500-megapixel specification because this product focuses more on desktop performance experience, so the design focuses mainly on hardware specifications such as the processor and graphics card.
For charging, it still uses gallium nitride (GaN) fast charging technology with a maximum power of 330W, and reduces the size of the charger by 60% (compared to chargers used in commercial gaming laptops). The battery itself can correspond to up to 5 hours of operating time.
In terms of software applications, Blade 18 can also be personalized through Razer Synapse software, including adjusting the processor overclocking method and the operating mode when plugged in or using battery.
In terms of suggested retail price, the new Blade 18 will be sold with a starting price of US$3099.99, available in black and white styles, and is expected to be launched in the global market from April 4.
As for the sales price of the new Blade 18 in the Taiwan market, it starts at NT$11 and is expected to go on sale in mid-May.
