Previously built for PlayStation 4Raiju control handleLater, Razer launched a new controller Raion for PlayStation 4, and redesigned the buttons to meet the operating requirements of fighting games, using a button configuration similar to that of a large joystick.
Although many fighting game players are accustomed to using large joysticks to operate, there are still many players who are accustomed to controlling characters with handles. It mainly depends on personal operating habits.
To meet the needs of players who are accustomed to operating with a handle, Razer has created the Raion for the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC platforms. It eliminates the left and right analog joysticks and only retains the cross button on the left. The button configuration on the right side is added with R1 and R2 buttons, so that the button configuration is just like a large joystick.
Simply put, this button configuration is designed for Capcom's "Street Fighter" series of fighting games. It corresponds to light punch, medium punch and heavy punch, as well as light kick, medium kick and heavy kick attack modes. Players who are accustomed to handheld operation can not only control it in a normal handheld manner, but can even put the handle on their feet and play with an operation method similar to a large joystick.
While the R1 and R2 buttons have been added to the right side of the controller, the number of buttons on the top of the controller remains the same. These buttons can also be customized through Razer Synapse to suit the user's preferred control style. The buttons utilize Razer's signature yellow mechanical switch design, which improves responsiveness. The crossbar also accurately maps to all eight control directions, allowing for precise input of character moves.
There is a set of switches on the back of the controller that can switch between PlayStation or Windows PC use. Perhaps it can also be used on the Xbox One platform by supporting Windows PC use.
Raion is expected to be available for sale starting today with a suggested retail price of $99.99.
