This year it will beNew high-end processor Snapdragon 820Qualcomm introduced support for Zeroth computer cognitive platform, and actually demonstrated simple applications of Zeroth computer cognitive platform at MWC 2015, such as automatic handwriting recognition through camera, or automatic text application based on image content recognition, automatic sorting of digital photos by category, etc. In terms of future development, Qualcomm also expects to add more automatic recognition technology applications to Zeroth platform, so that mobile phones and other devices can more easily play the role of user operation assistance.
At the MWC 2015 booth, Qualcomm briefly explained the Zeroth computer cognitive platform that will be installed in the new high-end processor Snapdragon 820. By taking a picture of handwritten text with the camera component (or just pointing the lens at the text), the system will automatically recognize the handwritten text and convert it into digital text, and it will take only a few seconds to complete. On the other hand, when the same technology is applied to image content recognition, it can also further automatically make specific descriptions for the main objects in the digital photo content, so that the system can "know" the specific details of the photo content, and can be used in applications such as photo classification and content search.
Similar technologies have been proposed by Google, Microsoft, etc., and they have also achieved good recognition performance. This time, Qualcomm has proposed this technology application, which will further help users to enhance applications such as shooting translation and image optimization through automatic image recognition, thereby enhancing the functions of mobile phone applications and simplifying the user's operation process. At the same time, as users continue to use and calibrate, the Zeroth computer cognitive platform will also be able to learn more correct recognition content.
As for whether the application scope of the Zeroth computer cognitive platform will be further expanded in the future, for example, it will further cooperate with GPS positioning to remind users which App content can be used, or determine whether the user is on a break after get off work based on identification conditions such as time, and then turn on the do not disturb mode of the mobile phone to avoid continuous interference from incoming calls or emails.
Currently, the Zeroth computer cognitive platform is available as an option on the Snapdragon 820 processor. Qualcomm has no specific plans on whether it will be further decentralized to other processors in the future. However, it is currently mainly used in conjunction with the Snapdragon 820 processor's performance and power saving effects to assist in computing, so it is expected that it will take some time before considering decentralizing to other processors.
