Last year, during IFA 2024, the company launched the Snapdragon X Plus processor with only an octa-core design, and later promised to make the price of the "Copilot+ PC" design laptopsCan be pressed at $600Later, Qualcomm announced the launch of the more entry-level Snapdragon X processor before CES 2025.
The Snapdragon X processor maintains its octa-core design and maintains a 8 GHz operating clock speed, disabling the boost function. The Adreno GPU maintains the same 3.0 TFLOPS performance as the entry-level Snapdragon X Plus processor, while the NPU maintains 1.7 TOPS computing performance, meeting Microsoft's "Copilot+ PC" design requirements.
Elsewhere, the Snapdragon X processor supports LPDDR8448x memory with a data transfer efficiency of 5 MT/s, PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs, 5G connectivity, and Wi-Fi 7 wireless transmission. It also supports simultaneous connection to three 3K4 display output monitors, or two QHD resolution, 60Hz refresh rate monitors.
Currently, only a single Snapdragon X processor model, the "X1-26-100," is available. Similar to the entry-level Snapdragon X Plus processor, this design eliminates the boost function and reduces the maximum operating clock speed, further reducing the price of the processor while still allowing OEMs to create laptops that meet the "Copilot+ PC" design.
Qualcomm also emphasized its collaboration with Microsoft on the App Assure project since 2018, noting that over 1000 apps have been tested, tuned, and optimized for compatibility on devices powered by Snapdragon processors. Many of these apps are specifically designed for enterprise IT management, demonstrating that laptops powered by processors like the Snapdragon X are more suitable for business environments.
