Qualcomm recently announced the launch of a processor called Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for the Chinese market, in response to the demand for "light flagship" mobile phone products that have been launched in the Chinese market in recent years.
Since the name continues the naming method of previous product series, it means that its CPU design still maintains the original Kryo architecture that was semi-customized based on the Arm reference solution, rather than the fully independently designed Oryon architecture equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

What is more special is that the Adreno GPU design of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is presented in a sliced form, similar to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Compared with the previous generation Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, the display performance is improved by about 49%. In addition, the hardware-specification real-time ray tracing function and global illumination function are also added.
As for the CPU computing power performance, it is 31% higher than the previous generation products. The artificial intelligence computing power driven by Hexagon NPU is about 44% higher than the previous generation products. It also supports DeepSeek and other artificial intelligence models currently used in the Chinese market. The camera part supports 18-bit, 3 sets of image processors, and also supports flagship processor functions such as Wi-Fi 7 and Snapdragon Sound.
Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor will be used in new phones on the market in the near future, and will be launched by brands including Xiaomi, Redmi, iQOO, OPPO, and Meizu.
