Ahead of the Snapdragon Tech Summit 10, which will be held again in Hawaii in late October, Qualcomm announced that it will use the Snapdragon X Series as the name of its next PC-class processor series, using a CPU design codenamed Oryon. The company anticipates the release of multiple PC models using this series of processors in 2023.
The CPU design, codenamed Oryon, is derived from Nuvia's technology, which Qualcomm previously acquired. It also restarts Qualcomm's previous fully independent architecture design, giving processor design greater autonomy and the ability to achieve higher computing performance based on product requirements.
According to previous statements, Qualcomm expects the CPU design code-named Oryon to be used not only in PC-level processors, but also in mobile processor designs for mobile phones and other devices in the future, but at this stage it will still be mainly built for PC-level processors.
At the same time, the announcement of a series product design also means that this processor will provide differentiated specification options to meet the needs of different product positioning.
With the launch of the Snapdragon X Series processor, Qualcomm is likely to directly replace existing processors such as the Snapdragon 8cx and Snapdragon 7c, making them easier for users to identify and further differentiating PC-grade processors.
