VinAI is renowned for its expertise in generative AI, machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. This acquisition, combining VinAI’s advanced generative AI R&D capabilities with Qualcomm’s decades of R&D experience, will further expand Qualcomm’s ability to drive exceptional innovation.

For more than two decades, Qualcomm has been working closely with Vietnam’s technology ecosystem to jointly create and deliver innovative solutions. Its innovations in areas such as 5G, AI, the Internet of Things, and automotive have fueled the prosperity and success of Vietnam’s information and communications technology (ICT) industry, thereby helping local companies expand into global markets.

“This acquisition underscores our strong commitment to investing the necessary R&D resources to further solidify Qualcomm’s leadership as a driver of the next wave of AI innovation,” said Jilei Hou, senior vice president of engineering at Qualcomm Technologies. “By adding top talent from VinAI, we will continue to strengthen our capabilities in delivering cutting-edge AI solutions that will benefit industries and consumers.”

Led by Dr. Hung Bui, a former member of the Google DeepMind team, VinAI's generative AI team possesses strong AI expertise, enabling them to conduct world-class research that pushes boundaries while also customizing AI models and engineering technologies.

Dr. Hung Bui, Founder and CEO of VinAI, added, “We are ready to fully support Qualcomm in its mission to achieve breakthroughs in fundamental AI research and apply them at scale across various industries, including smartphones, PCs, and software-defined cars. Our team’s expertise in generative AI and machine learning will accelerate the development of innovative solutions that will revolutionize the way we live and work.”
