Sony earlier pushed for PlayStation 5Latest system updates, bringing the long-awaited DualSense controller multi-device pairing function, allowing players to more easily switch between PlayStation 5 consoles, PCs, or mobile devices. At the same time, this update also adds a new "Power Saver" power saving mode to provide a lower power consumption gaming experience.
DualSense multi-device fast switching
In the past, if you wanted to switch between using the DualSense controller on PlayStation 5 and other devices, you had to repeatedly unpair and re-pair it.
With this update, players can simply power off the controller and press and hold the PS button, or any of the "△", "○", "×", or "□" buttons for more than 5 seconds. The controller's light bar and touchpad LED will flash twice, indicating that it has entered pairing mode. Then, pair the controller via Bluetooth on the target device (including Windows, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and Android platforms).
After the update, the four buttons will each correspond to four different paired devices. This means that when switching devices in the future, you only need to long-press the PS button plus the corresponding button to quickly switch to the paired device without having to reset it, which greatly reduces the time cost. It is especially suitable for players who play games on multiple platforms, stream or play remotely at the same time.
Added "Power Saver" power saving option
In addition to improving the controller experience, this update also adds a "Power Saver" feature that can be enabled in the system settings to reduce performance in exchange for lower power consumption. Sony pointed out that this mode requires game updates to support it, and the first wave of supported games include "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach", "Demon's Souls" and "Ghost of the Goat."
However, Sony also emphasized that power saving mode is an optional feature. Unless the user manually enables it or the game supports this option, the console's performance and power consumption will remain unchanged and will not affect the gaming experience.
A more environmentally friendly next-generation console
With ESG and carbon neutrality becoming key industry priorities, Sony has announced its continued commitment to providing software updates for the PlayStation 5 to improve energy efficiency and user experience. This power saving mode not only helps reduce energy consumption but also demonstrates the gaming industry's commitment to environmental sustainability.
