This follows the previous announcement that PlayStation Plus Premium members can now stream the game.Specific games in the "Game Catalog"Starting today, PlayStation Plus Premium members will be able to stream their "purchased" PlayStation 5 games directly from their digital game library via the cloud.
This update means that PlayStation Portal is further freed from the strict limitations of "Remote Play" on a single PlayStation 5 console. While a stable Wi-Fi connection is still required, users no longer need to ensure that their PlayStation 5 at home is powered on or in standby mode to stream their digital games.
The official statement indicates that the first wave of supported games includes thousands of titles, such as Astro Bot, Borderlands 4, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Ghost of Yōtei, allowing PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers to stream these purchased games to the PlayStation Portal via cloud.
System update: Added 3D audio, password lock, and game search.
In addition to enabling streaming of purchased games, this update also brings several system-level updates to PlayStation Portal:
• New main screen:A new "Search" tab has been added to make it easier to quickly find games that can be streamed.
• 3D audio support:When using wired headphones or Sony's proprietary PlayStation Link headset, both remote play and cloud streaming modes support 3D audio (for games).
• Device locked:A new passcode lock feature has been added to enhance security.
• Network status display:Add a new network status screen to the Quick menu.
• Purchase via streaming:Allows users to make in-game purchases without leaving the game while streaming the game in the cloud.
• Quickly add friends:You can receive and add game invitations from friends through the quick menu.
Filling the gap before the PlayStation 6's release, a new generation of native handheld consoles remains the future goal.
Sony continues to use software updates to gradually transform the PlayStation Portal from its initial single-function "remote gaming display" into a more independent cloud streaming handheld console, clearly hoping to fill the hardware gap before the launch of the PlayStation 6.
Previous reports suggested that the PlayStation 6 might be released within the next two years, at which time Sony might launch a powerful device."Complementary handheld devices" (complementary handheld device), its specifications may exceedASUS ROG Xbox Ally X.
