Compared to the Pixel Watch launched last year, Google emphasized that the Pixel Watch 2 will support IP68 level waterproof and dustproof, which means that the new smartwatch will be more durable and can even be used in rainy environments or during exercise.
However, the appearance looks almost the same as the Pixel Watch, but the body frame may be adjusted to aerospace aluminum alloy to replace the current medical-grade stainless steel. The processor is designed with a quad-core architecture and uses Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1. The operating system uses Wear OS 4, which adds Ping An Report, temporary location sharing, and Gmail and calendar interaction.
Other designs include a Cortex M33 co-processor that makes the watch more responsive, 2GB of memory and 32GB of eMMC storage capacity, and a 306mAh battery capacity. A full charge can provide up to 24 hours of use, and supports fast charging, which can charge for 30 hours of use in 12 minutes.
The screen uses an AMOLED screen that can support a peak brightness of 1000nits. The body is IP68 waterproof and dustproof, and the frame is made of 100% recycled aluminum. The overall size remains the same as the previous generation, but the weight is reduced by 5 grams.
It strengthens the tracking of sports and health-related data, and follows the design of Fitbit products, adding cEDA continuous skin electrode activity sensor and skin temperature detector, and can use machine learning to provide appropriate fitness training.
As for the watch itself, it is available in two specifications: Wi-Fi and 4G connection, and is compatible with the previous Pixel Watch strap accessories. The suggested retail price is the same as the first-generation Pixel Watch, and will be sold at a starting price of US$349.
