Before the launch event, almost all the news about the new phone had been leaked in advance, and it even made people wonder whether Google had instructed the release of relevant information. The Pixel 4 series will be divided into two phones, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, with 5.7-inch OLED screens and 6.3-inch OLED screens respectively. Both support the Smooth Display screen specification with a 90Hz frame refresh rate design. Both are equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processors and are equipped with 6GB of memory and 64GB of storage capacity. In addition, a 128GB storage capacity specification option is confirmed. The battery capacity is 2800mAh and 3700mAh respectively.
In terms of cameras, both new phones are equipped with an 800-megapixel video camera and a dual-lens main camera design with a 1220-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 1600-megapixel telephoto lens. The video camera will provide a 3D portrait unlocking function comparable to Apple's Face ID, and will also be equipped with the "Motion Sense" function using Soli floating gesture recognition technology based on ultrasonic radar.
According to the description, the "Motion Sense" function will be able to predict whether the user is about to unlock the phone, and can even recognize the user's floating gestures through perception, and control music playback through waving gestures, or interact with characters such as Pikachu in the game by waving. It is also expected to be applied to more application services in the future.
Based on privacy and security, Google also stated that the "Motion Sense" function can be turned off manually, and emphasized that all data is only calculated on the Pixel 4 and will not be saved or shared with other Google services.
As for the new version of the Google Assistant app, it has added the function of waking up the phone by squeezing the sides of the body, and directly asking questions to interact. There is no need to pre-awaken the Google Assistant with the words "Hey, Google" or "Ok, Google" (but it can basically still be woken up with keywords or tapping the Google icon). At the same time, users can also ensure privacy and security through the Titan M chip, or further delete the recorded voice interaction content.
Another new feature is a new voice recorder designed with artificial intelligence and voice recognition technology. This feature will quickly convert audio files into text through voice recognition, and allow for quick search of audio content. While this feature is currently primarily available in English, it is expected to be supported in more languages over time.
In addition to continuing to enhance HDR+ performance and high-resolution zoom functions (this time corresponding to 8x high-resolution zoom), the camera function has further enhanced night shooting performance. Not only can users use artificial intelligence technology to shoot farther, but they can also capture the Milky Way and starry scenes in extremely dark night conditions. It not only presents a few starry night scenes, but also makes the built-in flash of the phone only a backup design.
In addition, the new camera function also adds the ability to adjust brightness and contrast performance separately, as well as white balance learned through artificial intelligence, allowing users to adjust image presentation more flexibly and make image color performance more realistic. The new portrait mode also further enhances hair edge analysis to make the bokeh effect more natural.
Color options are expected to be "Just Black," "Clearly White," and "Oh So Orange." The Pixel 4 series will launch in the US market starting at $799, with a release date of October 10th. The company has also confirmed plans with major US carriers, significantly expanding its sales channels compared to last year's limited partnership with Verizon.
