Adobe brought a series of AI function improvements to its Creative Cloud applications at the Adobe Max 2025 conference held earlier. Among them, the import of AI functions into Photoshop and Express versionsNew Photoshop AI Assistant feature, which can help users automate repetitive tasks and provide personalized creation suggestions through conversational interaction.
In addition, Adobe also brought a number of new AI tools to Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Lightroom, and announced the next-generation Firefly Image Model 5 generative AI model, further integrating AI models from third parties such as Google and Topaz Labs.
Photoshop AI Assistant (Private Beta): Conversational Automation, Personalized Suggestions
Adobe says the Photoshop AI Assistant allows users to interact with Photoshop in a conversational way, giving them "greater control, capabilities, and potential time savings."
The main functions are as follows:
• Automated tasks:The AI assistant can be instructed to perform a range of creative tasks, such as batch color correction or resizing images.
• Mixing Operations:Users can easily switch between prompt word commands and traditional manual tools such as brightness/contrast sliders.
• Personalized advice and teaching:AI assistants can provide personalized operational suggestions or teaching guidance for complex tasks.
• interface:Adobe demonstrated an "agent mode" that minimizes Photoshop's complex interface to a simple prompt input box. Users enter the task they want to complete, and the AI assistant automatically executes the corresponding steps. Once completed, users can switch back to the full interface for fine-tuning.
• status:Photoshop AI Assistant is currently available through a private beta waitlist.
Other AI updates for Photoshop (available today)
• Generate fills to import partner models: In addition to Adobe's own Firefly model, the "Generative Fill" function now integrates third-party AI models such as Google Gemini 2.5 Flash and Black Forest Labs FLUX.1 Kontext, providing more diverse object removal and filling effect options.
• Firefly Image Model 5: Adobe also released Firefly Image Model 5, its most advanced image generation model to date.
• Generative Upscale: Integrating Topaz Labs' AI technology, it can enlarge low-resolution, cropped or small-sized images to 4K resolution and is claimed to be able to generate "realistic details."
• Harmonize: It helps users realistically integrate objects or characters into different environmental backgrounds, automatically matching the lighting, color, and tone of foreground objects and backgrounds, greatly simplifying the compositing workflow.
Premiere Pro AI Update (Beta)
• AI Object Mask: It can automatically identify and separate people and objects in videos, allowing editing and tracking without manual rotoscoping.
• New masking tools: Added Rectangular, Ellipse, and Pen Mask tools, as well as Fast Vector Mask for fast tracing.
Lightroom AI Update (Beta)
• Assisted Culling: AI can help users quickly find the best photos in a large photo collection and filter them based on focus, angle, clarity and other criteria.
