PayPal announcedPartnering with hotel payment service provider Selfbook, allowing users to search and book hotels within the PayPal service app, while also receiving exclusive discounts and paying directly with PayPal at checkout.
This collaboration will transform PayPay from a payment service into a transaction platform that combines hotel reservation functions, and even enable transactions using PayPal's buy now, pay later feature. If it further adds flight and other transportation reservation services, it may allow PayPal to provide a one-stop travel service.
PayPal stated that the number of people paying for hotel reservations through its service increased by 84% as a result of the partnership, suggesting that it could facilitate more hotel bookings through its transaction services. While it's unclear whether Selfbook will provide PayPal with its full list of partner hotels, it's clear that this represents a new business model for PayPal.
In addition to cooperating with PayPal, Selfbook has alsoAlready partnered with Perplexity.ai, allowing users to query and book hotels through the Perplexity.ai chatbot interaction. You can also use PayPal servicesPay for hotel accommodation.
In this collaboration, Selfbook expressed its hope to allow hotel reservations and payments to be completed in the same process, rather than dividing the process into multiple steps like in the past.
