Sony has announced the release of the FR7 (ILMR-FR7), an E-Mount camera with multi-angle rotation, designed to meet the demands of cinematic filming. The camera can be controlled remotely via a dedicated controller or connected to a PC or mobile phone, and can be mounted on a variety of vehicles for shooting, allowing for a wider range of camera angles.
The FR7, part of the Cinema product line, measures 227 x 289 x 233mm and weighs approximately 4.6kg. Together with the FE PZ 28-135mm F4 G OSS electric zoom lens, it weighs approximately 6kg. It features a dual memory card slot design compatible with CFexpress Type A and SD cards, and can only be powered via DC19.5V or PoE++ (IEEE 802.3/802.3bt) interfaces. There is no battery mode available.
In terms of specifications, FR7 adoptsCinema FX6The same 35mm full-frame back-illuminated CMOS sensor, corresponding to 1030 million pixels, is only compatible with dynamic image shooting and not with still image shooting. The video recording specifications can support 4K 120fps, 16-bit RAW file format, and have a built-in ND filter and S-Cinetone color performance. It also supports functions such as Fast Hybrid Autofocus and Instant Eye Autofocus.
The FR7 is special in that its mounting base can rotate at multiple angles and can be fixed on different vehicles for remote control shooting. It can adjust the pitch from -30 degrees to +195 degrees and the horizontal rotation from -170 degrees to +170 degrees. When hung upside down, it can adjust the pitch from -210 degrees to +15 degrees, and the horizontal rotation also corresponds to the adjustment range of -170 degrees to 170 degrees. The angle can be adjusted at a speed of 0.02 degrees to 60 degrees per second, and the shooting focal length can be adjusted in conjunction with the electric lens.
As for the control part, it can be controlled remotely through the dedicated control device RM-IP500 or through a browser-enabled PC, mobile phone, tablet and other devices via a web interface. Up to 500 FR100 units can be controlled simultaneously through the RM-IP7 (controlled in groups of 10 units).
The FR7 will go on sale on November 11th of this year, with a suggested retail price of 11 million yen for the body alone, and 132 million yen for the combination with the FE PZ 28-135mm F4 G OSS electric zoom lens.
