This year it will be announced during CP+ 2025New full-frame mirrorless camera LUMIX S1R IIAfterwards, Panasonic announced another full-frame mirrorless camera, the LUMIX S1 II, which uses a partially stacked sensor, corresponding to 2400-megapixel resolution and 6K ProRes RAW video recording capabilities.
Compared to the LUMIX S1R II, the LUMIX S1 II focuses more on cost-effective full-frame mirrorless cameras. Simultaneously, Panasonic also released the LUMIX S1 IIE, which eliminates the stacked sensor and high-speed continuous shooting function. While retaining the same features as the LUMIX S1 II, it offers a lower price.
In the case of electronic shutter, the LUMIX S1 II supports a shutter speed of 70 frames per second, and in the case of mechanical shutter, it can correspond to 10 frames per second. It supports 1.5-second pre-shooting function, and can also shoot 9600-megapixel high-resolution images without using a tripod. It also supports live view synthesis, multiple exposures, and time-lapse video. It is equipped with artificial intelligence phase hybrid autofocus, supports eye or face recognition focus, as well as automatic tracking and animal and vehicle recognition and tracking. In addition, it has added an "urban sports" shooting function that can recognize actions such as breakdancing.
For video, it can shoot 5.8K ProRes or ProRes RAW formats. It can also shoot full-frame video content with a resolution of 5952 x 3968 and a 3:2 aspect ratio, or 4K 120fps video, as well as V-Log/V-Gamut specification video, and corresponds to dual native ISO values of 640/5000 and a dynamic range of 15 stops.
The camera body is equipped with a grip design for easier holding, a tiltable and flip-up viewing screen, and a 576 million pixel electronic viewfinder. It can store captured images via CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II memory cards. In addition, the Dual IS2 anti-shake system can ensure image shooting stability, and the body anti-shake is increased to 8 stops, thereby improving the stability of handheld shooting.
In addition, the LUMIX S1 II also supports real-time streaming, connection to wired network cameras via USB-UVC/UAC, and the Lumix Flow App, which can create split scenes and shooting lists to improve editing efficiency. Panasonic also plans to incorporate the ARRI LogC3 specification, allowing the LUMIX S1 II, LUMIX S1R II, and LUMIX S1 IIE to be used with ARRI movie cameras.
The LUMIX S1 II is now available for pre-order, with a suggested retail price of US$3199 for the body only, and is expected to be available starting June 6th. The LUMIX S16 IIE, meanwhile, has a suggested retail price of US$1 for the body only. A Lumix S 2499-24mm f/60 zoom lens is also available, offering similar performance to the previously released Lumix S 2.8-24mm f/70 zoom lens, but at a lower price, smaller size, and lighter weight.
