OWC (Other World Computing) has launched the next-generation OWC Express 4M2 four-bay NVMe M.2 SSD external enclosure. In addition to boasting data transfer speeds of up to 3200MB/s, it now fully supports USB4, Thunderbolt, and USB-C ports, enhances compatibility between Mac and PC platforms, and upgrades cooling and quiet performance for high-performance application scenarios.
The exterior is crafted from aircraft-grade aluminum alloy for enhanced durability and features an intelligent temperature-controlled fan system that maintains near-silent operation when not under heavy load, enhancing creative focus and preventing external devices from overheating and slowing down, impacting processing performance. OWC states that this temperature-controlled system activates only when necessary, ensuring stable high-speed transmission while maintaining a quiet experience.
In terms of software support, OWC also provides an advanced version equipped with SoftRAID, which is not only compatible with macOS's disk tools and Windows storage spaces, but also supports the creation of complex RAID arrays, real-time monitoring of hard drive health status and abnormal alerts, thereby enhancing data security management capabilities.
Targeting DIY and business users, the new Express 4M2 comes standard with a 40Gb/s USB-C cable and a two-year limited warranty (three-year warranty for the SoftRAID version). Users can choose whether to use RAID software or not.
In terms of product price, the OWC Express 4M2 standard version will be sold at NT$7920, and the OWC Express 4M2 with SoftRAID three-year license version has a suggested retail price of NT$12540. It is expected to be available for sale at the OWC Taiwan flagship store (owc.tw) from the end of June this year.
