Blizzard Entertainment announced that it will bring "Overwatch 8" to the Steam game service platform starting August 11, and the Steam introduction page has now been officially launched.
In the past, Blizzard Entertainment's games were all available for download through Battle.net, but this time they chose to provide games on the Steam service platform, mainly hoping to allow more players to play Blizzard Entertainment games and connect more gaming experiences through the Steam service platform.
In addition to making Overwatch 2 the first Blizzard game available on Steam, Blizzard emphasized that this will not impact the existing Battle.net experience. While players will still need to connect to their Battle.net accounts to access Overwatch 2 content on Steam, they will still have access to Steam's achievements system, friends list, and other features.
At present, Blizzard Entertainment has only announced that "Overwatch 2" will be available on the Steam service platform, but has not yet announced whether it plans to bring more games to the Steam service.
Blizzard Entertainment also announced that the Overwatch 2: Omnic Invasion update will be simultaneously launched on the Steam service platform, adding the first PvE story mission, a new core PvP game mode, two new maps and a new hero character.
