In response to the growing digital home advertising (DOOH) market, E Ink today (February 2nd) announced the launch of its killer new product – the 55-inch E Ink Marquee wide-temperature full-color e-paper display.
This new technology will be officially showcased at the 2026 European Systems Integration Exhibition (ISE 2026) in Barcelona, Spain, starting tomorrow (February 3rd). Notably, E Ink is not going it alone this time, but is collaborating with several heavyweight ecosystem partners, including LG, Sharp, BOE, AUO, and Hisense, to jointly demonstrate this display solution designed for harsh outdoor environments.
Designed for outdoor use: withstands extreme temperatures and requires no cooling system.
The biggest selling point of E Ink Marquee is that it breaks through the physical limitations of traditional e-paper in outdoor environments.
• Wide operating temperature range:Supporting operating environments from -20°C to 65°C means that the screen can function normally whether in the cold streets of Europe or the scorching summer in Asia, without turning black due to high temperatures or becoming sluggish due to low temperatures.
• Four-color particle technology:It adopts a brand-new four-color particle display system, which provides more vivid color performance compared to previous technologies, and can meet advertisers' precise requirements for brand colors.
• No cooling system required:Compared to outdoor high-brightness LCDs that require large air conditioners or fans for heat dissipation (otherwise they will overheat), the E Ink Marquee itself does not generate heat and is resistant to high temperatures, so it does not require an additional cooling system. This not only significantly reduces hardware construction costs, but also allows the body to be designed to be thinner and lighter.
Locking in the mainstream 55-inch size, screen refresh time is only 5-7 seconds.
E Ink Chairman Lee Cheng-hao stated that E Ink Marquee has received enthusiastic market feedback since its technology was launched last year. The initial commercialization of 55-inch displays is precisely to meet the mainstream display size requirements of outdoor advertising machines, bus stop signs, and retail stores.
In terms of performance, E Ink Marquee's frame update time is between 5 and 7 seconds. Although it is not suitable for playing high frame rate videos, it is more than enough for carousel-style static ads and information billboards. It also has the feature of seamless frame switching, which can meet the needs of programmatic advertising.
