OpenAI partners with Softbank, Oracle, and the White House to build new artificial intelligence infrastructure

The "Stargate" artificial intelligence data center project will be operated by OpenAI, financed by Softbank, and chaired by Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son. The new artificial intelligence infrastructure is initially planned to be located in Texas, USA, but the feasibility of other locations is also being evaluated.

Oracle, Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and OpenAI will all be technical partners in this new AI infrastructure, integrating AI technology resources from multiple parties to drive higher computing performance while also sharing AI infrastructure computing resources with each other.

In a related statement, OpenAI emphasized that it still maintains long-term cooperation with NVIDIA and Microsoft, especially the cooperation relationship with Microsoft using Azure cloud services, and will even increase the proportion of using Azure services in the future. The announcement of building artificial intelligence infrastructure will serve as an additional source of computing power.

On the other hand, Microsoft also adjusted its relationship with OpenAIcooperation agreementOriginally, OpenAI could only use services provided by Microsoft as a source of artificial intelligence computing power, but the infrastructure computing resources provided by Microsoft can no longer meet OpenAI's needs. Therefore, the new version of the agreement allows OpenAI to purchase computing power from other suppliers, but Microsoft still has the right to restrict OpenAI from using specific cloud services.

The partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI remains unchanged. For example, OpenAI's artificial intelligence service API can still only be accessed through Azure cloud services, and Microsoft's Copilot service can still be built using artificial intelligence models provided by OpenAI.
