As AI tools gradually become part of daily work, OpenAI is rumored to be further strengthening ChatGPT's business application capabilities, targeting Microsoft Office users. The Information websiteAccording to reports, OpenAI is developing a new "Agent" function that will allow ChatGPT to edit Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations directly in the conversation interface, creating a productivity experience that does not rely on Microsoft Office.

OpenAI plans to introduce Office-like tool functions to ChatGPT service, and it is also rumored that it will add a payment system

This new feature is designed to allow users to not only ask questions and generate answers in ChatGPT, but also directly edit spreadsheets and presentations, reducing the need to frequently switch between platforms. According to trial users, OpenAI has even included a shortcut button below the input field, allowing users to create new documents with one click, making the process more intuitive and streamlined.

Because Excel and PowerPoint file formats are already open-source standards, OpenAI can develop new features that are compatible with mainstream formats without obtaining a license from Microsoft. This also means that users can create, open, and save compatible documents through ChatGPT without having to install Microsoft Office, significantly improving the consistency of AI writing and office productivity.

In addition to basic word processing functions, OpenAI's new "Agent" feature also boasts data search and task processing capabilities. For example, it can automatically generate reports based on internal or public data, and even assist with complex tasks like website design. While this functionality mirrors the Deep Research and Operator features currently built into ChatGPT, future versions are expected to feature even greater interactivity, including support for web navigation, automatic data completion, and troubleshooting website blockages. This will further enhance the practicality and independent work capabilities of the "Agent" feature within real-world workflows.

in addition,The Financial Times reportedOpenAI even plans to integrate a payment system into ChatGPT, allowing users to complete financial transactions within the service. OpenAI will then earn commissions from these transactions as an additional revenue source. Beyond the financial market, this will not only strengthen ChatGPT's role in commercial applications but also further advance AI tools towards a new "work as a platform" model.
