Following news that it plans to challenge the robotics market again, OpenAI is currently preparing to recruit personnel related to robotics hardware design.
This news was reported by Meta, who joined the company in November last year and previously served as the hardware director of Meta augmented glasses.Caitlin KalinowskiIt was revealed that they are currently recruiting technical personnel.
OpenAI previously proposed Roboschool, a toolset that can be used to train robots, in 2017, and demonstrated the results of training robotic arms to solve Rubik's Cubes in 2019. However, it seems that it disbanded the relevant robot research and development team in 2021, focusing on large-scale natural language models, and subsequently launched the ChatGPT service.
The news means that OpenAI will indeed enter the robotics market. In addition, it was previously reported that OpenAI is considering building its own processor products and has its own technical capabilities such as artificial intelligence models, which may become advantages for investing in the robotics market.
