According to The Information websiteReportIt is pointed out that after investing in text, image and video generation, OpenAI seems to be turning its attention to the field of AI music creation.
Reports indicate that OpenAI is developing a tool that can generate music from text and audio prompts. To this end, OpenAI is reportedly collaborating with students from the renowned Juilliard School to help prepare training data, specifically by annotating sheet music.
This labeled data will apparently be used to train AI models to understand musical structure and elements. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that OpenAI envisions applications such as automatically generating guitar accompaniment for existing vocal tracks and adding appropriate background music to videos.
However, it is not clear how far OpenAI has progressed in this project. This is not the first time OpenAI has explored the possibility of using AI to generate music content.
Before this, startups such as Suno and ElevenLabs have launched similar AI music generation services. However, the quality of AI-generated content is currently uneven, and it has even been accused of flooding major music streaming platforms, causingDiscussion on the potential of AI music creation and issues such as copyright and quality control.
